Collective Transit Housing
St. George Tower - Tournai, Belgium
Study Year: 2016 - 2017 / Bachelor's Year 1
End-of-Year Architecture project
Duration: 4 months
Workshop: First Year
The Saint George Tower is a remnant of the first fortified enclosure from the 12th century. Today, it connects two green spaces at different heights.
At the neighborhood level, the project steps back from the tower, creating an open space to highlight the tower and offering a connection to the elevated park.
Furthermore, this transitional housing is designed to accommodate six people. The main intention is to divide the living space into several parts, dispersed throughout the house, allowing different residents to appropriate the space based on their relationships.
The project includes a space open to the public during the day, functioning as a bookstore, which transforms into a large communal living room for the residents at night.
