A Green Interlude for Thomas Schütte - Katoen Natie - Antwerp
Study Year 2019 - 2020 / Master 1
Architecture Project
Duration: 1 month
Studio: Guest Professor Paul Robbrecht
Thomas Schütte has a desire to stage both artworks and the viewer. This analogy to the theater runs through his entire body of work, evident in the grotesque or unsettling features of his sculptures and in the lighting of his photographs.
The primary intention is to continue this exploration of theatricality, with nature as the backdrop and as a catalyst for creativity. The project aims to provide the artist with a vegetal interlude, a time for pause, a time to recharge, a moment to stop and create.
A vegetal bubble emerges in the midst of Antwerp, disconnecting us from urban activity. Nature spreads into the living and creative spaces of the artist, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior.
The omnipresent nature accompanies the artist’s mind and thoughts in moments of creation and artistic madness.
